Born on October
28, 1945 in Pulau Sayak, Kota Kuala Muda, Kedah Darul Aman,
currently lives and
works in Kuala Lumpur.
Ghjani is a self-taught
artist. Having worked in various labouring jobs to support the
large family he
was born into, he joined the Royal Malay Armed Regiment in 1965.
In 1970 he was
moved to the elite Commando unit. Throughout this period he drew and
sketched
the natural world and rural life. In 1986 he left the army and became a full
time artist.
His
first solo exhibition was in 1991 at the Creative Art Centre, National Gallery
of Malaysia.
Since then he has exhibited regularly in solo and group
exhibitions.
